Where the money goes when you rent a photo booth
A photo booth rental is mostly logistics: the booth or camera kit, lighting, a backdrop and props, delivery and setup, an attendant for the hours you book, and usually a print package. That's why quotes are priced by the hour or by the package, and why they grow with every extra hour.
A HeyGrats photo wall skips the hardware. Guests use the cameras in their pockets, a TV or projector you already have becomes the screen, and you pay for software instead of kit: a free plan for small events and one-time Event Passes for bigger ones, listed on the pricing page. A booth is a great feature. It is also one of the easiest extras to replace.
Small venues with no spare corner
Booths need floor space and a power outlet near the action. A photo wall only needs a screen, and guests take photos wherever they are.

Is a photo wall cheaper than renting a photo booth?

Does HeyGrats print photos?
No. HeyGrats is digital: photos appear on the live wall and in an online gallery, where guests can view and save them. If printed strips matter to you, a booth is still the right choice for that part.
Is it a 360 or video booth?
No. HeyGrats collects photos from guests' phones and shows them on a screen. It doesn't supply booth hardware, 360 rigs or video booths.
Can we use it alongside a photo booth?
Yes. Keep the booth for printed strips and add a photo wall for candid photos from the rest of the room. If you run the booth yourself, ask us about Local Sync, which sends the booth's photos to the same wall.
What equipment do we need?
A screen and a device with a web browser to show the wall, plus an internet connection. Guests use their own phones.
Do we need someone to run it?
No attendant is needed. If you want to check photos before they are shown, turn on moderation on a paid plan and approve them from the dashboard.
